There is some debate regarding Angus McLean's birthplace. In the 1871 census he is living in Lobo Twp., Middlesex Co., ON wit his parents and siblings. On the same census page are his grandparents Gillean McLean and Jessie Cameron. Angus' birthplace is given as Ontario. In the 1910 census of Detroit, Michigan his birthplce is given as Can. English. However, a number of documents have him born in St. Clair, Michigan. I am not sure which place of birth is definitive. I am the 2nd cousin 3 times removed of Angus. Our family came to Argenteuil, Quebec ca. 1816 and most of the McLean family left Quebec by 1856 (some prior) settling in Middlesex Co., ON, Kent Co., ON, St. Clair Co, MI, Sanilac Co., MI and even Detroit.
