Charles, born in Illinois, left for the west in the year (?). Where was he at the time of the building of the Walnut Grove Dam? There was a "Chas. Keyes" who assisted George Sines in a temporary saloon that serviced the 200+ workers at the site.

Charles Keyes was 20 years old in 1887... It may be unlikely that he ran a saloon w/ George Sines, but it's not impossible

It looks to be that the Chas. Keyes who ran the Walnut Grove Dam saloon also had a mining claim : https://www.newspapers.com/image/39795680/?terms=%22Chas.%2Bkeyes%22\
