Yda was born in 1915 in Tarnów, Tarnów, Galicia (then part of the Austrian Empire, now Poland). She was the daughter of Psachja Honig and Gitel Dwojra (Breitbart) Honig.[1]

Yda was a draftsman before she was imprisoned in the Kraków-Płaszów concentration camp. She apparently was moved to Germany from there, where she died, presumably sometime before the end of World War II.[1]

Notes
Gender Question
Testimony submitted by Yda's brother indicates that she was female, with Hebrew name Yehudit, and that her profession was "Draftsman". Her brother also shows her mother as "Dvora" and Gries, Gris, and Honig for her last name. He uses Gris Honig as his last name,[1] but their mother is believed to be Gitel Dwojra Breitbart,[2] not either of the two known persons named Gitel Griess.[3]

The only other relevant record found is for Yehuda Honig, a male living in Tarnów, Tarnów, Krakow, Poland. His name appears on the list of murdered Jews in the Tarnow Memorial Book. In light of several inconsistencies in Mordekhai's testimony, the possibility that Yehuda was male, supported by the profession of draftsman, needs to be considered.[4]
