... this makes me wonder...
if William was her 1st child with William... bringing into question the parentage of the three Albersons born earlier
Ann née Sharples
Rebecca Satterthwaite
Abraham Alberson
William Alberson does not have a confirmed DOB either... But we know the DOB of his wife Ester (July 23, 1677) in the province of New York
Just today, I found that Jane was born Jane Preston and had a child out of wedlock with Samuel Sharples... The pregnancy took place on the Isle of Man c. 1663.
Weighing this new-found evidence, I venture to consider that Ann Kaighn (Alberson) may be Ann Kaighn (Sharples).
All players WIlliam Alberson, Jane Preston, Jane's sister Ellen, Samuel Sharples and more Sharples children end up in the same Quaker mtg. in Ireland in the 1670s and 80s (!)
clarification: I see Ann who was born c.1665. I also see that Jane née Preston, the future wife of William Alberson may have been left to care for her illegit. child who seems to have been born c.1663....
What if William and Jane raised that child?
Ironiically (?) Ann Kaighn "Alberson" had, for a second husband one John Kaighn who was from the Isle of Man...
There are many pieces to this puzzle... all point towards Ann remaining with her natural mother in life in America.
We may never have an answer as any descendant of Ann's died w/o offspring, thereby erasing any chance that there are descendants who chronicled her life....
I should also consider the case of Mary Sharples .
Mary is a daughter of Samuel Sharples , but is she a daughter of Elin(our) or Jane.... Still no way to know.
What I'm thinking is that it may be Mary that was the child born out of wedlock...
Mary witnessed a wedding = 3rd day 5th mo. 1681 https://search.findmypast.com/record/browse?id=ire%2fquaker%2fqm1m-... with her parents...
I wonder where Ann "née" Sharples (or Alberson) was at this date?
She wouldn't marry Walter Forrest of Ireland until November 10, 1686 in West Jersey...
There is no reason to think that Ann would have had to wait for WIlliam alberson to leave for the colonies... She was already in her teens when this July 1681 marriage took place
