I am curious how we know there was an unnamed daughter of the Tam’s son. And what is the source of her marriGe and offspring?
I ask because through her — if accurate- I am a descendant of the or the Tam. But I am suspicious of relationships like this that seem entirely speculative.
Please understand - I hope to hear that there is discussion in a forward of some Sefer written in the 100 years of the tam that claims decent from the Tam based on a claim that his father or grandfather married the granddaughter of the Tam etc.

Genealogy is fun but we should not post relationships like this without giving some basis. I request the master of this profile to either provide a source or delete the person.

I encourage others to second my request

Unfortunately, many times the names of the women are unknown. It is known who was their fathers, who is the husband, and who the children are, but not the women name.
If you read rabbinic books you will find many examples of this.
Although she is my great grandmother, I have not check this branch.
Her profile opener is considered reliable, so far I have not found any errors in the profiles he has opened

Haim, I understand that often the names of the women are absent. But, still, I think that the source for her existence should be documented (i.e. In introduction to XYZ sefer written in year X, the author indicates that the daugher of the Tam married X. In sefer X it states that this couple had a son named _____ .....:) Then all could evaluate the claims and act accordingly. But without such documentation then for those doing research it seems like a buba mizter.
If the person posting the profile is doing so based on an oral tradition, let him state that. In our family my great grandmother claimed to be a 7th direct decendant of the VIlna Gaon. I later learned that she had cousins who made the same claim which added support to it. Eventually research showed the possible path for that relationship. So I am not dismissing oral traditions at all; I am simply saying that when people post informaiton like this they provide the basis for the information.

You can contact the person who opened the profile.
I just tried to explain that many times the father's name, the husband's name, the children's names are known, but the wife's name is unknown, To connect between her father, husband and children you must open a profile even if it is not known what her name was (which happens many times).

I understand so the person can list those sources you are describing. For instance, we know the names of many of the children (all the sons) of the Vilna Gaon but there is less certainty about his daughters amd even more on his granddaughters. My connection to the Gaon is through a grandaughter that is "surmised" based on a collection of data and is included in Chaim Freeman's study of the Gaon's ancestry. But it is clearly labeled as possible and not documented and he provides the basis for surmising the existence and marriage of this granddaughter to Meir Friedlander. Some will find it insufficient. Some won't. But it is laid out for anyone to see. I know this is the Internet but if someone creates a profile based on "a hope" rather than documentation that should be noted. I have reached out the admin for this profile. Silence.
