Mary Ann Stillwell Miller had three children by an unknown man. Mathilda and Martha were born in Tennessee and Jacob Miller was born in Fayette County, Illinois.
This fact is proven by two affidavits (in my possession) from the National Archives which state specifically that Jacob Miller I died near Washington, D.C. on 1 Dec 1817 as a result of illness or injury from the War of 1812. As such, there is no way that Jacob could have been the father of these other three children.
However, in the affidavits, Mary Ann Stillwell states that "the only children" of Jacob Miller I were: Elizabeth (Bettie), Henry, Sally and Christian. Sally and Christian likely died young as Mary Ann left North Carolina in the company of an unknown man with her 2 children Henry and Elizabeth.
