At least one of these profiles is <Private>, and I have a personal rule against merging Private profiles.

Okay, since nobody has responded, this merge is REJECTED.

I took the liberty of going ahead and completing the merge, I hope that you don't mind. It was a merge into a 10 year abandoned family tree and the active manager of the other profile also requested that it be merged. In general I doubt that you would have been able to complete the merge because the profiles were living (hence the Private names) and in disconnected trees. The way I see it, is that if a merge is requested, then it brings the potential merge to the attention of family members (as it did in this case) and they can then act on it as they choose.

I was unable to merge the profiles for his wife though, as she is a user on the website, but I also requested a merge for her.

Unknown Profile

Don't worry. This is not a conspiracy. Wink. Wink. :-)

The link above was comparing two profiles which were candidates for a merge. Following the merge, the two profiles became one and no longer exist as separate entities. Therefore, the comparison page is no longer valid as there are no longer two profiles to compare. It also takes me to my merge center when I try to access it. At the top of the page there should be a green disclaimer that says "This merge has already been completed" when you are redirected to the merge center.

Thanks, and if anything goes wrong, on your head be it. :-D
