Abernethy is in Perthshire not Fife, and it is NOT Fifeshire, to be correct it is "The Kingdom of Fife" the only part of the UK that can call itself a Kingdom.

Hi James, I think this needs to go to the Profile Managers or Curator in "Curator, Please assist." Hugh is my 22nd Grandfather, but I haven't touched his profile. Looks like managers/curators will have to make those changes for both requests. I find them helpful. Best, Susanne

Is there documentation for parents for this Hugh?

Asking because he's direct for me and I was just reading on this site, which isn't genealogical though, that Hugh is the first known of this family:

https://www.houseofnames.com/abernethy-family-crest

"The Abernethy family appear in ancient records as lay abbots of the Culdee Monastery of Abernethy in Strathearn in the 12th century. "This would seem to show that they were descended from original native stock and not of Saxon or Norman origin. The first of the Abernethys on record is Hugh, who appears to have died about the middle of the twelfth century."

And not that this has anything to do with the discussion, but...the reason I was reading up on them today is that on My True Ancestry they have matched my DNA to Clan Abernethy, and I do so love when the DNA and the tree research validate each other. lol
