Henry Hale - Henry Hale -- any sources?

I have disconnected Henry Hale and wife Joanna (supposedly Cutler) from Deacon Robert Hale of Charlestown and also from Joan ( ) Larkin Penticost.

The origins of Deacon Robert Hale are unknown according to the most up to date source, which is Robert Anderson, The Great Migration Begins. Joan ( ) Larkin Penticost MIGHT be his sister, although a recent The American Genealogist article argues against this.

See their profiles for citations and discussion.

Pleae do not re-attach parents to either Robert Hale or Joan Penticost.

What should we do with Henry Hale and Joanna (supposedly Cutler)? I don't know that they actually existed. If they did, we need sources and discussion for them.

Edward Larkin, of Charlestown & his wife Joan Penticost & her 2nd husband John Pentecost are well cited (Richardson, Anderson)

You are right, there is no evidence Henry Hale & Joanna Cutter existed. I think it’s a naming error for Robert Hale & his wife Joan and we should just merge Henry & Joanna into the MPs for Robert & Joan.

Unless he’s a theoretical father of Robert Hale ...

Birth: Or Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire, England

Good response. That was what I thought also. I know that somewhere there is an erroneous Cutler maiden name in this family in the literature.

I'll merge them.

Robert Hale was born about 1607 based on estimated date of marriage. His origins and parentage are unknown as of 1995. Anderson names a sister Joanna, who may have been wife of Edward Larking of Charlestown, and later of John Penticost.

He arrived in Boston in 1630, and removed to Charlestown in 1632. He was a carpenter.

Settled in Charlestown, Suffolk, Massachusetts.[1]

He married by 14 Oct 1632 Joanna ____.[2].

"It has been suggested, without documentation, that Robert Hale's wife Joanna was a Cutter."[3]

Because it's Joanna CUTLER, wife of Henry Hale, I figured there was confusion due to the suggested but not proven maiden name of the wife of Robert Hale. Which makes me think Joanna Cutler is definitely a mistake and should be removed somehow.

I realize that Henry is a putative father for Robert but clearly there is no evidence. I was asking what the evidence for him in Charlestown was even?

There was no Henry Hale of Charlestown.

If a real Henry Hale turns up he can be re entered.

Henry Hale is no more. It became clear he was actually meant to be Robert given his death in 1695 in Charlestown and his being married to Joanna Cutler / Cutter (sic). And some of the profiles which had unresolved data conflicts had Robert as the given name.
