This past weekend someone made a bad merge with my ancestor Jacob Efird Sr. They merged someone who had Johann Georg Ehrenfried and his wife Chatharina Barbara Bauer from Germany as his parents, which is wrong, with my Jacob Efird Sr who has Hans Joggi Ifert and Maria Schaffner from Switzerland as his parents, which is right. I have tried to fix it myself but it won't work. The information about the Ehrenfrieds came from a book about the Efird family that was written in the 1960s. It's based solely on the author's opinion that the two names, "Ehrenfried" and "Efird", are similar and that "Efird" MIGHT have evolved from "Ehrenfried". He had no proof, no documentation, nothing but his opinion. Six years ago I discovered that Hans Joggi Ifert and Maria Schaffner were Jacob Efird's real parents and have worked very hard gathering proof, and documentation, that this is the fact of the matter. I am in the end stages of writing my own book about it. It's now the accepted history of the Efird family in the Church in North Carolina that was founded by Jacob Efird and members of his family in the 1820s,and it's the Official family history on the Church website. I have a group here on Facebook that is based on the fact that the Efird family is descended from the Ifert family from Swiitzerland and half of the group are members of the Church. Can someone please separate Jacob from the Ehrenfried family members, and Chatharina Barbara Bauer and Anna Margaretha Crites? The only people who he should be connected to are Hans Joggi Ifert and Maria Schaffner.
I have been trying to get someone to help me ever since Sunday when I discovered this merge but have not heard back from anyone. Can someone PLEASE help me?
Jacob Ifert Efird Sr
I unmerged, down the line, but I didn't undo any of the information changes you made (next time, ask curators to unmerge before changing information -- only the unmerge will do what you needed) -- message me if you need any more help.
This was a very easy mistake to make; you might want for us to master profiles and lock things down -- ar at the very least, I can add curator's notes up at the top of the profile, which will be obvious to anyone merging.
