I could not find any proof of Phillip Minton's father. I think his father was probably John Minton who bought land in Washington Co. VA, in 1781. He sold the land in 1796. He had no Will.
John is in the Personal property tax of Washington Co. VA. through 1801. There was no marriage record for John in Washington Co., Fincastle Co., Botetourt Co. or Augusta Co. VA.
The only Minton in 1740 Virginia records is Joseph Minton, King George Co. Inventories, Orders 2, 1735-1751.
I think John Minton might be the son of Richard Minthorn of Morris Co. NJ who was rumored to have 12 children.
