It is been suggested that he was related to George Allen of Sandwich, but Y-DNA shows that Gideon of Guilford was related to Walter Allen of Newbury and Charlestown, MA, not George Allen of Sandwich, MA.

So the profile of Gideon Allen son of Gideon & Sarah (Prudden) Allen should be "Lieutenant Gideon Allen", not Dr. Gideon Allen. There is no Dr. Gideon Allen in the family. His son, John Allen, was the doctor in the family.
