I’ve been working on it a couple of weeks now - do we have it correct ?

Is there any more we can say about wives 1 and 3? Surely they were widows ?

Coyal Ann Maxey Gorman A096806/AQ264706C1 Has been looking at her ancestor Thomas Owen Shipp, Sr.

There seem to be records indicating he married Elizabeth Doniphan - and that his widow was Sarah.

Also copying Coyal’s comment:

“We need to do a public discussion of Thomas Shipp I. I found he was married to a Sarah, some
say she was was Sarah Doniphan. Sarah would be a daughter of Alexander Doniphan and Elizabeth Mott Doniphan, sister of Elizabeth Doniphan. I found land deals with Sarah & Thomas Shipp, and then a few years later, with a Elizabeth & Thomas Shipp.

Did Thomas marry both sisters? What happened to William Hansford, Sarah's first husband, then to Stephen Hansford, Elizabeth Doniphan's first husband?”

I should mention there is no question the Shipp & Doniphan families intermarried as his name was Thomas SHIPP Truman. So luckily we do have a “Presidential pedigree” in the picture. That helps us in tree building because they’ve had more attention paid to their origins and professional genealogists working on their trees.

Another point to mention is there was substantial record loss in Caroline County, which impacts Shipp at this generation, unfortunately.

Sarah Sallis was the daughter of Samuel Sallis and Sarah Catlett. Sarah married
