Relation to Northern Demographics

I see many names from northern countries, but these names do no appear in any family tree. I do not recognize anyone even if they are 3rd or 4th cousin. I know my parents and grandparents are who they say they are, and family resemblance is too strong to believe otherwise. So, I am desperate to find my link to Norway, Denmark, Russia, Netherlands, Germany as well as Italy and the Balkans. I cannot make connections.

Any help?
