But he wasn’t “the first.” Apparently genealogy was a “thing” with the Founding Fathers of the United States.

For example, one of the Adams (was it Gov. Samuel Adams II , Signer of the "Declaration of Independence" ?) mentioned that he was the sixth generation from England.

Ben Franklin’s father had the family bible brought from England.
