I just updated his profile by adding some photos of a report of the investigation of his death by the Coroner of St. Louis. Now Marx could not read or write English but maybe German. His daughter Lena witnessed his death and gave the Coroner the name of her father as Nadam. That would be what he taught her to say over the years. The actual spelling in Germany might have been different. Maybe it was his nickname used by his daughters.
I don't have his parents or his brothers or sisters to look at. His son died without issue. His daughters gave Americanized names to their children. My own grandfather was Max and his son was Nathan. My mother was Julia. (this is the Jewish side).
