Does anyone have any information as to her husband Nelssen? MY father , Norman Pehr Thorson always said that we lost this connection to this family.

@Emma Hornberg
I've tried to find that information without success. I did find record of her first marriage (Hornberg) and have that documented on my ancestry.com tree. It took place in Massachusetts. My dad, Paul (nee Gustafsson) Sander stayed with Emma when he came to the States in 1923. On the passenger list her name was spelled Nelsson - I've also see it spelled Nilsson. I do have record of her second marriage from the New York Extracted Marriage Index 1866-1937 with the following information:
Name:
Emma O Hornberg
Gender:
Female
Marriage Date:
20 Jul 1907
Marriage Place:
Bronx, New York, USA
Certificate Number:
1252
I have not seen the actual certificate but it can be purchased.

HI Cynthia
My apologies, I cannot find your direct email.. Please send again.
I am curious: Johan Hornberg was Emma's first husband? Do you know any middle name? Like you, I cannot find any records of his passing away? Was the son Carl Hornberg lost n the first world war?
What was Emma's last name when she lived in Fort Lee when she died? I will start looking at records for this. I just knew her as Farsta Emma.. A delightful woman who lived up the street from my grandfather. I remember a like portrait of my grandmother Alfreida, which hangs in my living room today, and somewhere in my memories is a large swan vase?
Somewhere, also in memories, is the thought that when she died, the home was vandalized and all was lost. Not sure where Emma was buried.
Hope all is well.

I think I found Emma's and John's marriage!

Using their "similar historical records" I also found two births of two boys I suspect died young since they don't show up in the 1905 New York State Census where it's just Emma, John and their son Carl. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SPNL-WK5

Haven't found any reference to her marriage to Nelssen though.

Also, do we have a source for her death in 1967?

Thanks. I have records of this marriage and their son Carl, who I believe died in the war. Just still missing the marriage to Nelson, Neilson,?? My father Norman Pehr Thorson, spoke about our missing "Nelson" family.
Farsta Emma lived up the street in Fort Lee, NJ from her brother, my grandfather Fritz Albert Thorson. I believe that her picture was taken at the fence of her property in Fort Lee. When I knew her, she was a single woman and had a portrait in her home similar to the one I now have for Alfreida Thorson, my grandmother who died in the early 1900's.

Hej Betty and Maria!
If Carl died in 1920 it would not have been during WWI although he might have died from war related injuries. The year 1967 for Emma's death is based on my parents' visit to the nursing home in Fort Lee where she had been. When they visited in 1968 they were told she had died the year previous. It's possible I'm a year off in my recollection and she died in 1966. I've looked for record of her death without success. I also checked without success in the Find A Grave index. The picture of Moster Emma (as my dad called her) was taken by my mother when we visited on our way back from Sweden in 1950. That's the only time I ever saw her.
