The Perutz family features prominently among my ancestors, so I was amazed to discover recently that there is a Perutza River in Guayana. Clearly, this cannot be by chance alone, but apart from finding its location I have been totally unable to ascertain anything at all about its history. Presumably, the river was named after a member of the Perutz family who either discovered it or else lived in its vicinity. I have attempted to communicate with numerous local authorities none of whom replied to my queries (so presumably they do not have the answer) except for two gentlemen, one of whom told me there is no such river, and the other who replied that it is only a small river.
