I am wondering whether there should be a merger of Kalman Yerushalmi Spira and Kalman Haberkstein. Here are their profiles.

Kalman Yerushalmi Spira

Kalman Jerusalem

Klonyimos Kalman Haberkstein

Rabbi Klonyimos Kalman Haberkstein

The link for Klonyimos Kalman Haberkstein is extra long because of the Hebrew.

According to a footnote (see link below, FN1 on page 2 of pdf) in an article by Weitz A, Rivlin believed that Kalman Haberkstein was the father of Yosef Yerushalmi-Spira.

http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~prohel/genealogy/pictures/Loew/Spira...

R. Haberkstein spent the end of his life in Israel so he could have used the name Yerishalmi. Weitz was not convinced and believe further investigation was necessary. The dates align, more or less. The only possible incorrect date is Yosef Yerushalmi Spira's birthdate is listed as 1501 and that would not be possible if Kalman Haberkstein was born in 1490 (though some sources say 1485).

I have no idea where 1501 asYosef's birth date comes from. Yechiel, who is Kalman Yerushalmi Spira's grandson, was born in 1530 (according to Geni). So 1490, works for his grandfather. My own notes were that Kalman was born before 1504 and Yosef before 1522. 1490 is before 1504. Though I have Yechiel as born 1560 and Geni has him listed as circa 1530.

Speaking of dates, it seems extremely unlikely that Beniyomin Ahren Farheitz, currently listed as Kalman Yerushalmi Spira's maternal grandfather, could possibly be so. Beniyomin Ahren Farheitz died August 02, 1610. So it is unlikely he had a daughter born in the late 1400s, when Kalman Yerushalmi Spira's mother would have been born. That would make him well over 120.

I have learned that in genealogy (certainly when it comes to very many generations back), never to say not absolute, but I doubt very much whether it is the same person.
I also learned to verify the findings and certainly those that appear on rootsweb.com I found works that showed that Klonyimos Kalman Haberkstein is the father of Ha'Ari HaKadosh of course this is not true (the mother of Ha'Ari HaKadosh and kalman's wife were also called lipka and I guess this is what caused the confusion )
In summary: I checked the connection between you and me, there is absolutely no blood connection, if you were right (and because I have a very large family tree), I supposed to see some family connection, and there is not

The second one is more complete than the first. But, I wouldn't merge them until you got more information. At least the Haberkstam version has a citation from the Jewish Encyclopedia.... But... I would be careful..... ..

Every merge will change the family tree in many of us (including yours ), so every merge should be done by a curator who will check things well.
According to my best tests, there is no connection between the two men

Here are the details:

The fathers are different, the places, the surnames ... There is no connection between the two profiles

Just thought I’d mention, I’m related to all three of you guys. All distant cousins of course. Which I thought a bit odd. But I am following to see if any changes are made.

Terry Todaro-Ballard it looks like our common ancestor is Haninai al-Nehar Peḳkod ben Bustanai bar Adai, Exilarch & Gaon of Sura. Indeed, it seems we have quite a few distant cousins through him.

The one name I’m familiar with, the other I will check out.
I have many other Dna matches through this branch of my family. But due to broken links it’s hard to track them. Which is why I found this odd to connect to all. So I will follow in hopes of connecting new branches. As on my grandmothers bloodline which goes through all 99% of presidents and kings & famous people.
My wonder is when these 2 lines reconnect as they must at some point in time.

I except last 2 presidents. I’m not, nor Bill Clinton only his wife. Lol

We are probably a lot closer than Geni suggests. If you are able to find your rabbinical lineage just a few generations back, you'll likely find even more "relatives," as many of the rabbinical lines are elaborate.

Yes I have noticed some of my connections to others like king David run thru my grandmother bloodline not my grandfathers.

Terry Todaro-Ballard
The relationship between us is very far away: Terry Todaro-Ballard is your 45th cousin Thrice removed
And the connection is through a great-grandfather Common to us(after Bustanai ben Haninai), is through this great-grandfather
Imaam Hashim (A'mr ul-U'la) bin Imaam ‘Abd al-Manāf

Good morning. I’m sure there is a second connection that would be closer. As I said previously, some of mine run through my grandmothers bloodline. She shows no Jewish ancestry. Her bloodline runs through the presidents and Kings. My grandfather line runs through the Rabbinic Dynasties. These two that the post is written on is connected to me as direct ancestors. On my Jewish side. Where as 2 of you show distantly on my grandmothers side. Which points to a second connection to both my grandparents.
However there are many branches i can’t connect with on my grandfathers side.

Terry Todaro-Ballard

If you find the branches of your grandfather, I would be very happy to see:
Because my father's entire family is a family of rabbinic families and dynasties, I have a family relationship (with varying degrees) with many of the rabbinical branches, if you find, then we should be seen that we cousins in a much closer relationship

I agree, my tree at this point on my my grandfathers side shows direct ancestry to the rabbinic dynasties. Spurs is a great grandparent. Along with many others. So I would assume we have a much closer relationship. I will keep updated.
