Descendants of 5 & 10 have matching Y DNA which matches two other Boltons who all were descendants of a Robert b 1706 (VA?) and Mary Hubbard. They are our earliest known Bolton ancestors most likely from the British Isles. Since there is no way to prove how many generations there were between Robert b 1706 and Matthew b 1763 there is a disagreement among three of us researchers on the generations between. Most have placed Matthew b1763 as son of Robert b 1706 and Mary Hubbard b about 1710. This seems unlikely as these given names were used over and over.
