The will of Robert McMeen:
In the name of God amen I Robert McMeen of ye Township of Little Britain in ye county of Lancaster and province of Pennsylvania Y eoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory Thanks be given to God therefore being mindful of my mortality I do hereby make my last Will and Testament in manner following. First I order that all my just debts and funeral charges be duly paid. Item I give and bequeath unto my son William McMeen the sum of five shillings lawful money of the said province (if the same be lawfully demanded). Item I give and bequeath onto my Son in the Law Benjamin Dillworth who is marryed to my Daughter Elisabeth the sum of Five Shillings like lawful money above said (if the same be lawfully demanded). Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane the sum of five Shillings like lawful money above said (if the same be lawfully demanded) Item I bequeath them unto Robert the son of said Benjamin Dillworth but born of the body of my said daughter Elisabeth ye sum of two pounds like lawful money above said to be paid him by my executor win he shall attain the age of twenty one years. Item I give and bequeathed unto Maragaret the daughter of said Benjamin Dillworth born of the body of my said daughter Elizabeth one two year old Heffer to be delivered to her by my Executors when she shall attain to age or Day of Marriage which shall first happen and for the Remaines and Residue of my Estate I dispose of ye same in manner and form following (that is to say) I give and devise ye Land and Plantation and Ishues and profits thereof during her being my widow or her widowhood, and I will that all my movable Estate whatsoever beach equally divided between said son Robert McMeen and my said Mary as they shall think proper after first paying the Debts and Legacies first aforesaid, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my trusty friend of Thomas Robinson of the Chester County in ye province aforesaid and Francis Armstrong of ye County of Cecil in the province of Maryland two be ye executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the 19th day of November 1757. Robert McMin (Seal)
Sealed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Robert McMeen ye Testator as his Last Will and Testament in ye presents of us ye subscribers John Aken Isaac Sanders Samuel Steel. Lancaster County said April 19th 1758. Before me the Subscriber came Isaac Sanders one of the witnesses to the foregoing Will and on his solemn affirmation did declare that and say that he was present and saw and heard Robert McMin the Testator therein named sign seal publish and declare the said writing as for his last Will and Testament, and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding of the best of his knowledge observation and belief Edw’d Shippen. Lancaster County May the 2nd 1758. Before me subscriber came Samuel Steel another of the witnesses to the foregoing Will and on his Corporal Oath did dispose up and say that he was present and saw and heard Robert McMin the Testator therein named up sign and seal publish pronounce and declare the said writing but as and for his last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof but he was of sound and disposing mind memory & understanding to the best of his knowledge of how observation and belief signed Edward Shippen D. R.? But being remembered that the last Will and Testament of Robert McMin deceased was proved as above said, but and probate & Letters testamentary but were granted to Francis Armstrong1v in the said testament named (in the absence of the other Executor) of being duly sworn well but & truly to the administer the Deed’s Estate to make a true perfect inventory and render a just account when lawfully required.
