Hi Andrew,

Have a look at this death notice for Helena Catharina Elsebe van Dijk wife of Carl Christian Mathey.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS92-H1S7?i=428&am...

Parents are listed as Klaas van Dijk and Amalia Schenk

Amalia Theresa Ada listed among her children.

I think the Helena Catharina in the current profile is the wrong person.

I believe this is the right one:

Hi Richard,

I don't have access to Family search - can you take a snap shot of the death certificate?

I did a lot of research into this about 3 teats ago, and ended up taking a flyer on the Amalia Thesra Ada Mathey name - but it all seemed to hang together. It seems her name became anglicized and for that reason I could not find her parents originally - but then I stumbled across the Amalia Thesra Ada connection and put 2 and 2 together and made the connection.

Looking at some of her siblings, they all seem pretty well educated (Dr's) which is quite a pleasant surprise if you are correct.

I am really interested in going back before to her maternal ancestor to find the Asian connection and how it came to be in SA - through marriage or was she a slave who got married once at the Cape colony.

Rgds

Andrew

Richard, I had a look at the profile on geni.com that you linked to and I think they are the same person so we should merge the profiles.

I'll give it a try - lets see what happens.

Andrew, I added the death notice to her profile. Hopefully you can see it now.
