Years ago, my mother recorded my grandfather telling stories from his life. I recently began digitizing and transcribing them. Here is one that centers on his experience in Galgoc/Hlohovec at the end of the first World War in 1918. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with stories from that town, especially with family whose surnames were Bauer, Szessler, Karpeles, or Vogel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnm22kQUy_8

Antionette Netti Szessler married Leopold Bettelheim . Both were from Galgoc. My father's family is from Galgoc/Hlohovec (AKA Friedstadt on Waag.) My great great grandfather was Joseph Leopold Bettelheim. There is a book "Under the Castle Growing up between the Swastika and the Cross" by Joe Frankl. His relatives lived in Galgoc.

Hi Ann! Thanks for the book recommendation, I'll check it out. I'm having trouble finding Antoinette on Geni. Could you link directly to her? Since the Sesslers are well documented in the area, I'm hoping to connect my Sesslers to the larger community. This is the earliest Sessler in my line that I can trace. As you can imagine, there are a handful of Lipot Sesslers.
