Found this information on the geni website quite by accident!! I believe this man is the 4th great grandfather of my grandsons who live in Australia. We know him as Isaac Gustaf Litton born in Finland in 1855. I have had confirmation from a reliable source in Finland as to his history, and how he ended up in southern England around London unknown to his family in Finland. He married Hannah Mary Harrison (born 1856) in London England on 26th November , 1882. Hannah died in the Sep qtr of 1898, and Gustaf died 17 December 1900, leaving a young son, Edward William, born March 1886, who eventually emigrated to Australia with his wife and sons. At the time of his death I believe he was working on the docks in West Ham, London.
I would be most grateful to receive confirmation that this information has been received by the person who instigated this post on Geni.com
Thank you. The story goes - Isaac's mother had died and his father married his maternal aunt. He was probably not happy about this union. One day, he returned home from sea and "dumped" his bag in the house, whereupon his step-mother admonished him and ordered him to sort out his clothes and tidy up the "mess" he had made. Instantly Isaac picked up his bag and left the house, never to return and his family lost all contact with him.
I can see that stubborn nature in Isaac's third and fourth great grandchildren!

Dear Shirley, Thank You very much for the story!
The 4. grandfather (Samuel Järvelin 1772-1843) of my husband Eero Järvelin and Isak`s grandmother Stina Lovisa (Littow) Järvelin 1784-1854) were siblings.
The Järvelin family is from Hailuoto (island near Oulu) and went to Liminka about 1783.
Isak`s mother Gustava Pietilä died 23.12.1868 in Oulu, when Isak was 13 years old.
Best wishes to your family!
Tellervo Järvelin
