Simon leVassar born May 22, 1896 serve in World War I afterwards he came home work on the rail road for 20 years living in Van Buren Maine as a break man on February 23, 1937 he fell off the train and died. As a break man in those days everything with manual saw his job was to chain want to stop you had to run on the catwalk on top of the cars and turned the brakes on manually so train could stop His mother Suzanne at the time she had 15 children a widow did not support the children so she sent the children to living relatives all over the country his son Fred was sent to New Jersey to live with which was Simonsen sister Cecile . Cecile had a restaurant to put Fred to work in the restaurant Fred was about 10 years old she worked him to the point we fell asleep behind the counter so Fred got tired of the abuse he climbed up on the counter it and punched out Cecile as Cecile's laying on the floor Fred took his bicycle went to Easton pa sold it and went back to Van Buren Maine with his mother World War II broke out Fred went to the military Academy learned how to be a chef you went through three beach landings
when he came home he went back to Van Buren Maine he met Mildred PAGE they got married then bought a house on Bridge Street on the VA bill he had two children Carol November 19, 1948 and Milton October 6, 1949 worked as a lumberjack and later get a job in the railroad like his father were he fell off the train into the back was paralyzed about a month afterwards he could not find any work because he could no longer do the heavy work that used to do so he calls up he bought an old back a pickup truck he put all his belongings and came to Cecile in New Jersey Cecile told them I have a job with her as a chef and Clinton New Jersey once he got to New Jersey sold the truck since you live behind the restaurant he didn't need it you can walk restaurant and house which she owned Cecile on which he stayed in some time as a chef he had another child named Victor in June 13 1954 one day a guy comes in working on route 78 tells them you can do better come to work with me you can make more money he did so he left the Cecile's house and the restaurant he went to the house in Lebanon Township on E. Main where you live for a few years he worked in the summer was laid off in one or after a while Mildred told him were not saving anything you need to work during the winter he went to work for the winter at the Clinton house and Clinton New Jersey he saved up enough money in 1960 on a failing 500 brand-new at Clinton Ford is found out the car had no motor amounts.
He asked the owner of the house if they could he buy it Mildred said you wanted to much for the house so we start to look all the houses he found one in Gwen Garner New Jersey and a fourth child named Rebecca in the late 60s where he stayed until his death his wife Mildred stayed there until about her 90th birthday where she has Alzheimer's moved in to a nursing home where she is today Mildred's birthday December 24, 1928 Fred was born 1932 date she is now 91 4/12/2019
