@Roderick McLeod
Howdy Mr. Gates Jr.
Or should i say Cousin Henry Louis Gates Jr.
We are related but not closely.
Ivebeen working on my genealogy since 2006.
My uncle started our family genealogy search years before i started, and with todays technology and computers i surpassed him in mere months compaired to his years of research.
But even i hit a BRICKWALL with my McLeod/MacLeod lineage.
Ive been told through family stories that we are from SCOTTISH NOBILITY .
Ive tried to find out where in Scotland my 3rd great grand father Roderick McLeod and his lineage are from.
Im hoping that you may be able to help me BREAK DOWN THIS BRICKWALL.
Roderick McLeod fought with the British during the Rev War on the front lines during battles in the 42nd Regiment of Foot, and was granted land in New Brunswick, Canada for his sevice to the KING.
Roderick married Susannah Hovey (b=1793 Gagetown,NB) the 13 year old daughter of Aaron Hovey & Dorothy "Dolly" Price.
Roderick Sr. died 1821 Ludlow,NB .
His son Roderick Jr. is buried in the Highlander Cemetery near Ludlow,NB.
A cousin of mine Scott McLeod from Maine told me Roderick's name was John.
He found a land grant petition frrom Susannah Hovey McLeod claiming the land they lived on and naming John as her husband, just before she remarried 1823 to their neighbor Capt. Able Pond.
