Cornelius Ward, Somerset County, MD

I am related to the Wards, Bostons and Matthew M. Wise. I have a lot of correspondence between Matthew and family members as he researched the "Boston Family of MD" book. Gustavus Webster Ward moved to Washington, DC with his mother Margaret Ann Ward (Landon) and siblings in the mid-1800s after the death of her husband William Andrew Ward, son of Levin Smith Ward and Elizabeth Boston. Gustavus worked at Old Soldiers Home in Washington DC for thirty years, served during the Civil War, and continued as Farm superintendent at Old Soldiers Home after the war. His brother Thomas also worked there as well as at the White House. Matthew's great grandfather married Hattie Jane Ward, Thomas' daughter and my great grandfather married Hattie "Parker" Ward, Gustavus' daughter. Many relatives later, I am living on the Eastern Shore and have continued researching our early relatives since Matthew began helping me in 1982. This is so great to find and I hope there are Boston relatives and Ward relatives to get in touch with.
