I have documents from archives in Warsaw showing several "Wolfs" but not Wolfgang signing birth certificates. But then again, there are many Wolfs from Warsaw. and she seems to have hailed from a diff area of Poland. No telling due to the missing generation.
here is link to my little webpage for Furcajg family from Warsaw.

Dear Cousin,
Does any of the following help?
Phyllis Knoblauch, nee Wolfgang, was my mother. Her Wolfgang grandfather (Emil Wolfgang) and great grandfather Frederick/Firencze Wolfgang) were from Tokay, now Hungary; but had relatives elsewhere, such as Oradea (now Romania) and Berlin.
We suspect the name “Wolfgang” (meaning”path of the Wolf”) was a modernization of the name of a family “Wolf”.
The Wolfgang family were Levites.
My grandfather William Wolfgang married Aranka (Gertrude/Gerri/Goldie) Yutzkovitz (Juskovitz/Juskovitz/Justin) from Malyi Bereznyi , now sub-Carpathian Ukraine. Aranka was a daughter of Freba/Frieda Wohl (a descendant of Rabbi Saul Wahl Katzenellenbogen) and Samuel/Moshe Yutzkovitz. The Yutzkovitz were Levites.
Genealogist/author Edward Gelles is a specialist on the Katzenellenbogen /Oppenheimer rabbinical line.

Mr Gelles postulates that my mother’s (Phyllis’) Wohl grandmother was part of the Wohl banking family of Crakow; and that connection was my mirber’s (phyllis’) link to Mr Gelles and to the Katzenellenbogen lineage.
Also, it is likely that Aranka Yutzkovitz was a cousin of her husband William Wolfgang, notably through William Wolfgang’s mother’s (Lena Jurkowitz, nee Davidowitz) family, which had changed its name from Davidowitz to Jurkowitz. The Davidowitz family were also part of the family tree of William’ Wolfgang's wife (Aranka, nee Yutzkovitz).

The connection could go back as far to include a stray gene from the Levite line. I know I am also Levite. (The story goes) My gr grandfather was a Kohen in Warsaw for a small synagogue that he had had a long walk to get to. He was not allowed to enter his usual place of worship after his sons were forced to work on the Sabbath in a mattress factory for wages. He joined another congregation some blocks away in Warsaw that welcomed him. And he also taught students. The family were Furcajg, Symch-Berech Furcajg. I know a little about him, but nothing about the generation before him. Or his wife Rivka Alterlajb, from Kiolo, Poland. Perhaps I will search the website to see if there is any mention Furcajg, but I doubt there would be. If I was schooled in how to trace the actual gene stuff , I would be able to pin down more closely the connection, but I don't understand it at all!
I do not have GedMatch or Ftdna kit numbers for Dr Gelles; but perhaps he will provide them to you. Your connection to Phyllis Knoblauch and to Edward Gelles might interest Dr Gelles, too.
I found on the Internet Dr Gelles‘s E-Mail:

It would be exciting to find a jump from “Wolf” to “Wolfgang”. It has been suggested to me that my mother’s “Wolfgang” surname sometimes occurred as “Farkas” or “Woolf”.
There is in England former Lord Baron Chief Justice of England and Wales Harry Kenneth Woolf.

My father‘s (Sidney Knoblauch‘s) family are Kohen. I am J-P58, which is the Kohen haplogroup.
My parents were cousins.
The Knoblauch/Knobloch family were scattered around Poland, but especially located around Krakow, Tarnow, Sukmanie, Nowy Sacz. I believe some Knoblauchs were in Warsaw.
The Knoblauch family seems also to have been in Frankfurt am Main and Worms, where I recollect they overlapped with the Wolf family. The Frankfurt am Main Knoblauch family was associated with Bacharach (from Worms and Frankfurt am Main), Strauß and Rothschild.
Cheers,
Joel
