Hello! My family heralds from Ortakoy, Istanbul and I am trying to work out their pre-Turkish ancestry and whether they are from Spain or Portugal. I know that my family spoke Ladino and that they davened at the Etz Ha-Hayyim Synagogue in Istanbul.
Does anyone have any advice about how to go back further than the early 20th century? Thanks!
