Jesse Dodd, son of William Dodd and Catherine Nederman, was born circa 1745 in Loudoun County, Virginia; he was born into the Quaker faith, and was disowned by the Friends of the Fairfax Monthly Meeting in 1764 for "libertine conversation". It's this Jesse Dodd, son of William, who married Mary Bobo, in what is now Union County, South Carolina in 1771 (when Jesse Dodd, of unknown parentage, wouldve been 14). Jesse Dodd, b. 1757 in NC, married Cloe Miller in 1779; they are not the same man.
