Samuel Bemister - Bemister's Fountain

Hi thanks for the pic, do we know which Bemister it commemorates? I gather Samuel was the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Yip, this fountain was build named after Samuel Bemister, he was the mayor of Christchurch as well if I recall correctly.
I was doing as much research as possible as I am trying to get out of South Africa but cannot get hold of a British passport unfortunately :(
