Our DNA (2 different tests} match us with the Simontons. Philander Alexander is listed in the family bible (Alexander) as grandson of John Alexander d. 1800 in Lincoln Co. N C . The family earlier lived in Iredell Co. Philander was born in November 1804 in N C . All the other children of John Alexander and Mary Price Morrison Alexander are listed with every detail you could ask for, but down at the bottom it just says Philander, grandson of John Alexander. We think Violet Alexander (Mary and John's oldest daughter) who took care of him was his mother. She never married. They moved to Missouri and on to Arkansas where they died in later years. Family lore has whispered that the father of Philander was a Cherokee Indian, but DNA suggests otherwise. Does anyone have any stories or rumors of a lead we can search? He is a 3rd great grandfather of mine. We have been searching for his family for over 10 years.
