I don't know your past with Curators. I can see what happened in this particular incident, as can anyone following the breadcrumbs that Geni provides.
Looking at revision history on Levi Powell we see that a Curator performed a data conflict resolution after a profile merger. That merger was between this profile of "Levi Powell" and a profile of "Jonathan Leven 'Levi' Powell": https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=72471976800
Your 2nd cousin once removed, Curtis Ray Powell , was the original creator of this other profile and had set the name to be Jonathan Leven 'Levi' Powell. The Curator in this case made a choice to believe your cousin had reason to give a longer name.
Levi's profile now has 4 managers. Each of which has the same claim to the profile. Perhaps your cousin has some documentation to support the longer name.
