Would love to know the source for this exact date/place of baptism for James, and for his wife Margaret's surname please.
Reasons I don't believe James buried Southdean is the son of John SINTON and Margaret LEARMONT are on my web page http://familytree.lornahen.com/p14463.htm
---
Many trees claim this James belongs to John SINTON and Margaret LEARMONT/LARMENT of Ashkirk.
As James is currently assigned two eldest sons Peter - estimated to be born about 1750/1752 - and Thomas - born 1755, he is unlikely to have been born after 1730.
John SINTON married Margaret LEARMONT/LARMENT in Dec 1735, immediately producing a Kathrine baptized the next month, and an Alexander the next year. The first gap in the known children is between 1740 and 1746, too late for this James and 5 years prior to marriage being rather too much a gap for these to be his parents.
I'd love to be proven wrong - any direct male line descendants of the other lines around to see what yDNA testing would add to our knowledge
As for his wife's surname Margaret WESTWOOD has crept into assorted SINTON trees from a confusion over Peter SINTON of Roxburghshire and a Peter SNADON of Alloa
See Disambiguation notes on WikiTree for Peter
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sinton-7
ie An increasing number of trees are copying erroneous information linking Peter to a Margaret Shaw SNADON as a simultaneous wife with Janet DONALDSON, and/or changing him into a Peter SNADON son of William SNADON and Margaret WESTWOOD but still with Janet DONALDSON as his wife and a mixture of children from both families.
He is extremely unlikely to have been in two places at once (Alloa, Clackmannanshire and Southdean, Roxburghshire) with simultaneous families. Please do not copy trees without checking sources, facts, and likelihood of information.
