* a worker on the Empire State Bldg
**Site: The tract was originally part of Mary and John Murray's farm on Murray Hill.
*** Coincidentally, another VB was named for this Murray family in 1800 = Col. Michael Murray van Beuren, USA
*** The Col MMvB family had connection to the Astors through the Spingler family. A wife of Henry Spingler , Jane Sloo , had a niece who was married to the illustrious John Jacob Astor. See [https://www.geni.com/path/Sarah-Astor+is+related+to+Jane-Spingler?f... '''''link''''']
The line of Albert T. Van Beuren and Col. Michael M. van Beuren is joined in two brothers:
Dr. James van Beuren
&
Dr. Beekman van Beuren, patriot physician
who were physicians during the Revolution.
Beekman stayed a "Patriot"; Dr. James was on the fence about his loyalty and later became a Tory.
Looking over what I just wrote, I see I missed explaining something:
Col. Michael M. van Beuren's middle name... < MURRAY >.
My theory is that this name was chosen both because of Henry Spingler's friends, the Murrays of Murray Hill and John Jacob Astor, all consequential real estate investors in the years following the Revolution.
BTW: see also the wiki site about the Empire State Bldg.

In sum: Albert T. Van Buren worked on Murray Hill in the building of the Empire State Bldg (circa 1930), while his distant relative Col. Michael Murray van Beuren was named for the same family back in 1800. (I think).
sic transit gloria mundi
I'd like to see the Louis Hine photo, the one showing Albert on the 82nd floor. I'll set about looking for it now.
I found the source for the lead about Albert's involvement w/ the Empire State Bldg. at : https://www.telegram.com/news/20160827/northboro-man-pays-tribute-t...
