How do i merge dupicate profiles. I have one generation , my father's generation , that is full of dupes. I tried elimating one set. It will not ler me. Now this includes at least three uncles and their families. I am managwr of both sets.

Still hoping simeone will help me with this issue

Judy - directions for merging are here: https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229705547-How-can-I-merge-m...

-if you are using the Flash Tree, the directions for Drag and Drop are great - - however
they do not correctly show how to find "Move this person" for those using the HTML Tree - if you are using the HTML Tree, and you already know how to find that on the HTML Tree, then you can still follow those directions from then on
[I can try to explain to you how to find it, if you do not know and want to, but I do not feel I do a good job of it]

Regardless of which Tree you are using, you can merge following their directions for "Merge This Profile" from "Actions"

Where do i look for directions. It says i can not do it.

More info needed to help.

What did you try to do?
At what point did it say you can not do it?

ie - Did you get that message when you tried to click on the link above? (which is where you look for directions)
or if you got it when when you were trying to follow the directions given there in the section with the title in bold "Merge This Profile" - and if so, at what point?
or?

(And what did the actual message say, if you can remember or see it again?)

It just said something about belong i ng to someone else . which is crazy since i am one of the other someone ekses. I had not been able to get onto geni so i started over. Then someone on here straightened me out but i ended up w ith double everything from all my father's diblings to the present.the other person listed as manager is my cousin. She can not ger vack on . so we are stuck with doubkes.

It simplely will not let me do it. So we will stay doubled profiles..

Judy -

for one of the sets of duplicates where it said that -- when you look at the two profiles involved,
1) do you see yourself still listed as a Manager on each of the profiles?
2) do you see an Activity Tab between the Overview Tab and the Media Tab on either of the versions of the profile?

I am not sure what you are refering to by activity tap.

are Mollie F. ( Cheeve) Loubris & Mollie F. ( Cheeve) Loubris the same person ?

I’m working on the others but need you to tell me this one before I can progress for you.

Judy there were a couple of matches into different trees with different managers. I don’t know if they’re “good to merge” or not, so I generated merge requests that go to both you and the other manager. You should see them in your geni mail “requests” tab. If they are not right, please “reject.”

Judy -- on each profile, there are a row of what look to me like the Tabs one sees on File Folders. The leftmost one on all profiles says "Overview". If a profile is claimed -- ie, is a Geni User - the next one to the right of that says "Activity".
If the Profile is not claimed - that is, is not a Geni-user - then "Media" is right next to "Overview", with no 'Tab' labelled Media.

I see Erica is working on the problem now, so the answers to my questions are probably not needed now at all - just answer her questions.

Lois, it’s always helpful when you explain the Geni profiles and functions.

I will add that every Geni member has a merge center, found (Home > research > merge center) or directly from https://www.geni.com/list/matches

And the merge requests I generated for Judy to look at should be there for her under “requested merges.” She will have the ability to “approve” or “reject.”

Some were duplicates I wasn’t sure are the same; but even better, it looks like there might be another cousin of hers on Geni.

I think part my problem besides not being that tect savey is i am not a paying membet. Any help is greatfully appricated. I wanted to fix the problrm myself , as i really did not want to bother any of you. I have bern merging here and there but these were not coming up.

Judy you should see them now (the ones I wasn’t sure of).

Click this link

https://www.geni.com/list/matches

There’s a tab: requested merges.

Do you see it?

If you accept the merge request, after, resolve data conflicts.

See this for instructions on resolving:
