Is there evidence to support the claim of ancestry? If so, please add it to the profile. There is a lot of speculative and imaginative genealogy that we like to vet here on Geni, so I take Ton's comments very seriously.

I would take Ton's comments more seriously too if they weren't laced with sarcasm. Geni is one of the few platforms left where I feel comfortable enough to interact on regular basis without having to endure the barrage of political garbage and other distractions. You would have had my full participation if the approach was different. Anyway, the sole reason for having to explain all this shows that I'm probably not a good choice for this discussion, even if I had anything useful tio contribute which I'm not sure I have.

The Maduros are active in the Jewish communities of Panama and Honduras. Two Maduros became Presidents of the Republic of Honduras. The actual President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro,a Catholic, claims to descend directly from the Levy Maduros and has written a letter about, made public by the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, as accusations appeared about antisemitism on his party organization. I could reproduce this lettrer, if it is whished. I remember that some years ago there was in Amsterdam a world meeting of Maduros, joining at the Sephardic Synagogue and its Montesinos Library.
