Hello,

My grandmother's family was from Québec, most recently from the Lacolle area. When I was younger, our French-Canadian family sent us an updated family tree (the first time I'd seen it), and it went back to when the family was still in France-it also showed arrival to Québec in 1648. With my family and I moving, this tree seems to have been lost; and the family members that my father remembers in Québec have since passed-we aren't able to just ask for a new copy.

So, that brings me here! I'm wondering if anyone could help me with leads on the Giroux family to help me get started? My grandmother's name was Lorraine Giroux, father Maximilien Giroux, mother Bernadette Hamelin (or Hamlin) Giroux. Bernadette and Maximilen were both born in Québec, passed away in New York.

Thank you to anyone reading this, and thank you for any future help! :)

Hi,
I am from Quebec City I might be able to help you. Do yoy know thise website:
Nos origine
Mes ailleux

Thise 2 are Quebec sites for family research.

There is also the wrbsite of BANQ archives of province of Quebec and family search

Descendant of Antoine Giroux and Marie-Angélique Dubois married before 1796

Private User Looking at the children of Antoine and Marie-Angélique, I see Toussaint Giroux. I remember seeing this name on the tree from when I was younger! I do not believe he is a great-grandfather, but a great-uncle; I think we're on the right track.

I am not familiar with the websites, I will check them out this afternoon. My French is honestly not very good, but I can get by with basic reading if the websites are not very complex.

Thank you! Or rather, Merci!
