So if I want to stop getting notifications, I click “follow,” it changes to “unfollow.”

NOTE -- it is a toggle -- If it says "Follow" -- that means you are Not Following it, and clicking will switch you to following. --- -- Also entering a comment will switch you to following.

If it says "Unfollow" -- that means you Are Following the Discussion - and clicking it will switch you to Not Following.
