James Jason Olmstead was my great grandfather. His son, Theodore James Olmstead, was my grandfather and Marve Theodore Olmstead was my father. James Jason was in the Civil War with the Wisconsin Volunteers from 1861 or 1863, for two years. His son Theodore James, was two years old and was the first-born child when his father departed for service in the Civil War. Following the War, James Jason returned home where he worked as a logger. His wife died leaving him with five young children. he remarried and had six more. He died near Embarrass, Wisconsin, about 1921. His son, Theodore James ("Theo") lived in Idaho and died about 1923. He had 8 children and was married to Libby Port or Porte (my grandmother). He and his sons logged and operated a sawmill in northern Idaho. My father, Marve Theodore, was in WWI and was stationed in Florida. He died in 1968 and is buried in St. Maries, Idaho.
