The John departed Virginia and arrived at London (probably in June or July, since Captain Newport was also the commander of the next vessel to Virginia). The Phoenix, which had left England in its company, had not yet arrived (but did arrive on April 20). Ship and Passenger Information: Type: small bark Captain Christopher Newport, commander Passenger: Namontack . . . Powhatan's "son" (actually a servant), taken to England

as a "Virginia prince". Returned with the "Second Supply". (Newport's "sonne", Thomas Savage, actually a laborer who arrived in the First Supply, was traded by John Smith as a hostage for Namontack's safe return.)
Captain Christopher Newport returned to Virginia with the Second Supply - Mary and Margaret - arrival at Jammestown October of 1608. List of settlers - Thomas Gipson - a tradesman

Unknown Profile

Yes. I know that Unknown Profile and Wahunseneca, Paramount chief of the Powhatan are the same person. And yes, he had a daughter named Namontack. I had noted this in a couple of profiles.

This Unknown Profile shows as a female married to Unknown Profile a child with a Lakota name.

So something is wrong.

There is nothing wrong.

This... Namontack, of the Powhatan was a male...a Powhatan Indian that was a servant to Wahunseneca.

This... Unknown Profile was a female.... Wahunseneca's daughter. I do not know for sure who her mother was, but you may be able to base it on his other children's birth dates. She was named after Namontack.

Namontack, male, mentioned here http://historical-melungeons.com/gibsontl.html

Besides the previous post from wikitree, only place mentioning Wáȟpe šá I, Wakute Wazican /Pine Shooter is here on geni. I will list other sites mentioning a "Chief Pineshooter". Will start with this one....

Namontack male is not the same person as Namontack female.

On the subject of Pineshooter, Wabasha, the town in Minnesota is named for him; the Wabash Cannonball train, etc; however, he was too old to be married to Isomgosiono, the atDna does not show a significant cM amount to the participants claiming him to the Seneca who have high cM amounts documented for a few years now in the About sections that were mapped 3 years ago. The Wabasha Dynasty is a MN state documented family; but, not anywhere near the Powhatans.

Erica, Who was Werowance?

“We *are* seeking the origins of this legend but need something far better than online family trees and findagrave memorials.”

Amen !

Private I believe it would make sense to change the names to NN where they don’t make language sense & mixup with other people who existed, just put the profile wrong name in the also known as box.

Diana Collins I am extremely uncomfortable with Lakotas shown in Geni as coming from Powhatan. It strikes me as bad / unprofessional genealogy and culturally insulting. So unless there is substantive proof let’s keep them separate.

When I first looked at the profile, I saw she was named Namontack....and her father was Powhatan. Couldn't remember off the top of my head who she was supposed to be the wife of....and I didn't pay attention to the child's name. I totally agree, that is not the right profile. That's why I started throwing things out there for Pineshooter to try and figure out who his parents were. Definitely not Namontack. I believe Namontack is actually this profile... wife of Necotowance

At the very least, a profile for a daughter to Wahunseneca, Paramount chief of the Powhatan needs to be added on named Namontack. Lock 'er up 'til other info is found.... partner, kids, etc.

Let’s not at add profiles in this area at all.

Strachey had names for some of his wives and a couple of the children. That’s about all we know for sure.

Trying to consolidate Wahunseneca duplicate at ,,,merge request to son of Wahunseneca
