Hi Hermanus
Thanks for your responce !
John PHILLIPS is my g.g.g.g. grandfather. From various online sources it states that he boarded the ship La Belle Alliance, but the ship only sailed a month later afer a delay of the Thames being ice-bound. It left the Downs on 12th February, 1820 arriving in Table Bay 2 May and Simon's Bay three days later.
However, I recently found this . . .
I have a copy from Ancestors Project, Center of Family History and Genealogy in Nottinghamsire, England. It is from a collection called Shipping Agents' List which arrived on a ship in Sydney 6 oct, 1848. It is an insert documenting vessels that sailed to South Africa in 1820 . . .
JOHN PHILLIPS
Male; Age 19; Ship Belle Alliance; Commander's name Rolfe.
Events: Arrival 2 June 1820 to South Africa; Place Table Bay.
The document states that this individual is in Wilson's Party.
Archive: Nottinghamshire Archives.
I am trying to establish if Norden was asked to "keep an eye" on John Phillips. Were they part of the same group?? This is just a "feeling" that I have.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.
Jen.
