I have the photo of his grave stone in Apulia NY but I thought his name was Pliny, also.

What’s the name and date on the stone?

Isaac Miller 1670 - 1740
Married Priscilla Ball

Abraham Miller 1715 - ?
Married Mary Sackett

Pliny Miller (Sr)
1754 - 1818
Married Desire Hillard
Fought in Battle of Long Island - Rev. War

Captain Pliny Miller
1775 - 1860
Married Polly Hayes
Fought in the War of 1812
Built the first dam and sawmill in Saranac Lake NY

That is a patriarchal line of fathers and sons in order.

How do you know the Miller family?

Captain Pliny-Miller father is Pliny-Miller Sr his father is Abraham

Nancy please give dates and place on Pliny-Miller Sr

Homer Miller , son of Capt Pliny, is my great-great-great grandfather. Just getting into genealogy. I’m it very settled on the Abraham info - there seems to be more than one in that era and more than one who served in the Rev. War. I’m trying to confirm his info.

Capt Pliny-Miller daughter Sarah is my ggg grandmother who married William Cooper 1st
All of there graves are in Wilmington NY where I grew up.

Captain Pliny-Miller’s sword and musket used to be in Wilmington EM Cooper library until someone broke in and stole them along with other swords and muskets

That’s so unfortunate. Do you know if any other relics or photos that still exist of him?

There are two muskets ,Cannol ball and a couple or diaries, a foot and hand heater—can’t remember what else, after the break-in some family members took what was left to there house for safe keeping. My grandmother if still alive never would have allowed that as she was the Librarian and the and the town Historian

Thanks for letting me know. Wish I could’ve seen all that. I have the headstone pic. We plan to visit Saranac Lake this summer. There’s a library there with some of the town history, so maybe we will be pleasantly surprised to find something from his time there.

One more question! Is there an address or anything or any house still standing where he lived? Thanks for sharing this info.

On the corner in Saranac Lake where the dam is, there is a furniture store there that used to be his hotel. He erected two hotels but did not run them. He hired people to run them.
