My male line of Patnode has been tested and is R-L51. This is an old family line from Quebec that goes back to immigrant Nocolas Patenostre 1626 Normandy France - 1679 Quebec Canada. My g- grandfather was Tuffield Patnode of Keene, NH, USA.
I am R-L51. Although I have a brick wall at my 2nd Great Grandfather born in 1821, it's probable that I am descended from Dene Relyea who settled in the Hudson Valley of New York in the late 1600's. His spouse was from Quebec and there is the possibility that he also settled in Quebec on coming from France and then moved to New York. I haven't yet found any sources to verify his French parentage.
