I have edited this profile to remove his birthplace of Isle of Wight, Virginia and the added apposition Nicholas Seversmith, of Isle of Wight".
We can put these items back, if someone can bring reliable proof that a Dutchman who married an early immigrant to New England and then moved with her to New Amsterdam, was actually born in Virginia. It's possible, but very unlikely in the mid 1600s.
Also someone one has given him a father named Severt Smith. Is there evidence for this? My recollection is that very little is known about him. Who knows what his actual surname was and yes, if he was a Dutchman and was had a patronymic, then we can presume his father's given name was Server(t).
