Using different languages

I copy the data from the Russian MyHeritage tree. But when copying the fields are filled in English(default) (in Cyrillic).
This causes a warning suring further editing the profile.
Is it possible to add a setting in SmartCopy in which language to copy data ?

Why? Change the language in geni to Russian before you SmartCopy uses.

Or possibly, change the my heritage setting to English and clear your Browser Cache and cookies and then reload the now, English site then smart copy to Geni.

Both sites are in Russian for me. But SmartCopy uses English(default) for new profiles

Hello Andrej, then just ignore the warning. Look at your own profile in English(default). With the exception of Title, Name, Birth Surname and Also Known As, all sections of your profile in English[default) are also in Russian.

No. My profile was created in Russian initially in 2011
And in 2014 Geni moved all data from English tab to Russian tab.
So now all data are placed in Russian tab in contrast to the profiles created by SmartCopy.

You can also convert the profile created by SmartCopy in English(default) by clicking Add Language and selecting Russian. On the new Russian profile only the names will be missing. You have to copy them separately. Possibly by repeating SmartCopy.

> only the names will be missing
This is why I asked about configurable language for SmartCopy

You're программист. Can't you make your own suggestions?
Additionally, I believe that if you run SmartCopy a second time - in profiles which are already Russian - the names will also be transferred to the Russian profiles. Have you already tried this? In the second run you would only have to copy the names in one process for the whole family.

But I'm not a developer SmartCopy.
So my suggestion to developers: add option to select language for new profiles created by SmartCopy.

SmartCopy is a web browser extension initially developed for Chrome used from geni, but not a geni program. I think you would have to enforce your suggestion with Google.

SmartCopy is not 'language aware' at this time, nor does it currently have a mechanism to add / update profile information in an alternate alphabet (aka 'language'), even though Geni supports multiple alphabets interactively.

As this is an entirely volunteer-supported tool, there is no timeline for when someone might add such a capability.

Hello, let's suppose one is programmer. How he's going to obtain source code to modify it before suggesting the change to developers? And would he be able to test the new feature with live Geni before sending it for inclusion in main version?

The source is available (see the Project description for the link). Since it runs as an addition to the local browser's "extensions", one can have their own 'local' version of SmartCopy and thus compare / test their local copy against the "production" copy.
