What evidence is there that this man, Richard Chandler, is really the father of John Chandler, Sr., original Jamestown settler? It's very suspicious in that I see no mention of Richard in the write-ups about John, but DO see a note that he was not related to other Chandlers who might have come. And with this Richard supposedly killed in the 1622 massacre, that just doesn't seem to add up. Please let me know if any of you have any sources that document this relationship. Thanks! Keith Lavender (son of Pauline Chandler Lavender).

I, too, would need specific documentation to prove that Richard is the father of John. I have found no source to show that Richard and Dorothy had a son John. In one place, I saw that Richard was referred to as John Richard Chandler. Why would John be listed as "Sr." if this were the case? It does not add up. Also, I read where Richard may have come to Virginia but went back to England where he died which would mean he did not die in the massacre.
