Searching for records on Stefano Carano, found the travel document of a Stefano Carano, of the estimated age expected, with a Angeliona Carano in 1902.
Document notes they were heading to Cleveland. Cleveland, Iowa was a large draw for miners at the time. Many moved from Cleveland to Ladd, IL to build a railroad and then work on a mine. This may be the path that led Stefano to Ladd.
