The furthest back known ancestor on my paternal side (R-M269) is Vigor L'Hostelier from St. Malo, France. He was born circa 1555. His son's surname changed to L'Hotellier. Vigor's 2nd great grandchild, Thomas L'Hotellier moved from St. Malo, France to Chile in circa 1700. His fist son born in Chile surname changed to Letelier. His name was Pedro Letelier. Rumor has it that his mother who was Spanish did not like the name L'Hotellier because it made it seem like she was a hotel worker.
It is also rumored that Vigor's father may have been from Whales, Great Britain. His father may have been a soldier for King Henry the VIII during the Siege of Boulogne.
Perhaps there's records of those who fought for King Henry the VIII at the Siege of Boulogne that can link the father of Vigor L'Hostelier.
