I do not know what discussions went before regarding this lady, but I have an ancestor Susanna Sophia Lotter who married Cornelis Wilhelmus Els and had the several children listed here. I can see how there may have been some hair rending as regards this lady. So let me lay the situation out nicely from a side, starting with a supposedly "impossible" story about my great-grandfather, Petrus Johannes Booyens. I could not believe the story when I first heard it, but I have confirmed it black on white.
Petrus married a first wife named Elizabeth Petronella Wilhelmina Snyman; he had a string of children by her including my own granny; and then Elizabeth died in 1911. Her first cousin of the IDENTICAL triple name, named after the same maternal joint granny, then travelled down from the Northern Cape to marry the distraught Petrus in the magistrate's office in Oudtshoorn. She raised the nine children. And so the family knows about "Oupa Piet's First Bettie" and "Oupa Piet's Second Bettie". He lies buried in Calitzdorp next to his second Bettie.
Perhaps THAT family history placed me in the unique position to recognise that the same might have happened with Cornelis Wilhelmus Els in the early 1800s. So I did the homework:
1. Cornelis married Susanna Sophia Lotter≈27.5.1795 , daughter of Christoffel Johannes Lotter and Gesina Cornelia Labuschagne, on 19 July 1812 in Graaff-Reinet.
Her baptism (≈) is HERE: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSV8-D9K8-S
Her marriage info comes from SA Genealogies, but I cannot find it in Graaff-Reinet at the date stated
2. They had seven children, inlcuding my ancestor Johanna Catharina Els before Susanna Sophia Lotter≈17.5.1795 passed away on 16 December 1831.
The death and child info is HERE: http://databases.tanap.net/mooc/main_article.cfm?id=MOOC8%2F73%2E33
3. Four months later, Cornelis Wilhelmus/Willem Els, sitting on his farm in the Vogel Rivier District with seven children (four of them under 10), married on 29 April 1832 in Somerset East the15 years younger FIRST COUSIN of his "First Susanna".
The info on the second marriage is HERE: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSV8-H916-M ; Entry 278
4. This "Second Susanna" was Susanna Sophia Lotter≈5.9.1812, daughter of Matthias Johannes Lotter, the older brother of Christoffel Johannes Lotter above. Matthias was married to Johanna (Maria) Labuschagne, older sister of Gesina Cornelia Labuschange. In fact, Matthias and Johanna were witnesses at the baptism of Cornelis Els' "First Susanna" in 1795!
The Lotter Family Structure is from DeVilliers & Pama
5. The Second Susanna Sophia Lotter dies on 28 January 1878 in the Kroonstad District in the Free State in the age of 67 years 5 months and 25 days. That indeed puts her birth date around 1811, rather than around 1795. Her DN (below) states her to be married to Cornelis Wilhelmus Els. A single child named Mattheus Johannes is listed.
6. This explains how the death notices of both Matthias and his wife Johanna can state that THEIR daughter Susanna Sophia Lotter is married to Cornelis Els. She was the SECOND Susanna Sophia Lotter to marry the same man. Both Susannas were named after their joint grandmother, Susanna Sophia Jacobs. Both DNs were done AFTER the first Susanna Sophia had been dead for at least 20 years.

DN for Johanna Labuschagne : https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DB5S-NK7
7. It is true that the Second Susanna may well have marrried a completely different Cornelis Els, but I have identified no such person yet.
Now, as regards this entry as it stands on 28 Jan 2019:
(a) The child info and parent info are mutually inconsistent entries.
(b) The lady who had this list of children, was the FIRST Susanna, daughter of Christoffel Lotter & Gesie Labuschagne.
(c) If folks want to connect brother Matthias Lotter and his wife Johanna Labushagne to a daughter named Susanna Sophia, then the SECOND Susanna needs to be added here and then married to Cornelis Wilhelmus Els as his second wife. The single child Mattheus Johannes should be added to that marriage
(d) The present entry above, as it stands, is mixing two human beings, both named Susanna Sophia Lotter, and is depriving Cornelis Wilhelmus Els of his second wife. It is wrongly attributing Mattheus Johannes to the first marriage. He is a half brother of the other children.
